Will My Sofa Fit Through the Door?
Enter your sofa and doorway measurements and see whether it can get through, which way round, and where the limits of the check are.
A divan or ottoman base cannot be folded, so the doorway and the hallway decide whether it arrives. Enter your bed size, your narrowest door and, if you have one, a tight corner. We check a one-piece base against a two-part base.
Most people measure the doorway for the mattress and forget that the base is the part that cannot bend. A double divan is about 135 cm wide and 190 cm long. Carried on its edge it is only about 35 cm thick, which is why it can often go through a standard door, but it then has to be turned inside, and that needs room beyond the door.
The corner is usually harder than the door. At a right-angle turn the long base has to swing through every angle between the two corridors, and a base of 190 cm or more needs wide corridors to do it flat. Carried on its edge it takes less room in plan but needs a ceiling at least as high as it is wide.
A split, or two-part, base comes as two halves, each half the width of the full base. Each is about 70 cm wide for a double and 75 cm for a king. That makes a huge difference: halves go through narrow doors, round tight turns and up awkward stairs far more easily. The checker compares both for you.

A mattress flexes, and is often delivered rolled or compressed. A divan or ottoman base is a rigid box with a fixed frame, so what you measure is what has to go through the door. It cannot be folded, which is why bases, not mattresses, are the usual cause of failed deliveries.
A divan that comes in two halves, each half the width of the full base, and the same length. They fit together under one mattress. Each half is about half as wide, which makes doors, hallways and stairs far easier. It costs little extra, and many makers offer it.
The height of the base without the mattress. Divan bases are usually 25 to 40 cm, and ottoman storage bases 35 to 45 cm. If you are not sure, the maker's dimensions are on the product page.
A bed base is long and thin from the side, so the easiest way through a doorway is often with the base turned on its long edge, then straightened on the other side. The checker tries it flat, on its edge and tilted, and reports the easiest.
No. Stairs add the slope, the headroom and the turn at a landing, which depend on your staircase. If stairs are involved, a result of likely is never a guarantee, and it is worth asking the delivery team to look in advance.
Not really. Most bed frames arrive flat-packed in pieces, the longest of which is about the length of the bed. That is rarely a problem for a doorway. This checker is for rigid bases.
