There is something very polished about a traditional furniture showroom. A few sofas are carefully spaced out, every cushion is perfectly arranged and everything looks pristine under the showroom lights.
It looks great, but there is usually one problem.
There might only be a couple of dozen sofas to actually choose from.
At Alec’s 3 Piece Suites in Bolton, we have always done things a little differently. Our warehouse is not about creating perfectly staged living rooms. It is about giving people as much choice as possible.
And that means sofas. Lots of them.
Our 30,000 sq ft warehouse is packed to the rafters with hundreds of sofas, chairs and suites, with new stock arriving regularly. In fact, compared with many traditional furniture showrooms, you could easily have ten times the choice when you come for a look around.
You will find leather sofas, fabric sofas, recliners, corner sofas, Chesterfields, high backs, armchairs and complete 3 piece suites. There are modern designs, more traditional styles, neutral colours, bold colours and just about everything in between.
One of the things that makes Alec’s a little different is the sheer variety.
We have plenty of individual sofas and one-off pieces, so you are not simply walking around looking at the same few ranges in different sizes. You can genuinely have a wander around the warehouse and find something completely different from one row to the next.
That also means our stock is constantly changing.
A sofa you see today might be gone tomorrow, while another van load could bring something completely different through the doors. For plenty of our customers, that is part of the fun. You can come in with a rough idea of what you want and end up finding something you had not considered before.
Another big advantage of having so many sofas physically in stock is that you can see the actual furniture before you buy it.
You can sit on it, check the size, feel the fabric and make sure it is comfortable. If it is a recliner, you can try it. If you are looking for something supportive, you can compare it with other sofas there and then.
And because so much of our stock is already sitting in the warehouse, you do not always have to wait weeks for your new sofa either.
Same-day delivery is available on many purchases, so if you find the right sofa and want it quickly, we can often get it to you that very day.
So no, Alec’s might not look like the fanciest furniture showroom in the North West.
But if you want hundreds of sofas, loads of different styles and colours, one-off pieces, clearance prices and stock that is ready to go, we reckon that is far more useful.
Sometimes, more choice beats fancy lighting.
