We hear this one a lot at Alec’s.

“We’ve got dogs, so we don’t want to spend too much on a sofa.”

And honestly, we completely get it.

Dogs do not care how much your sofa cost. They are still going to jump on it, curl up in their favourite spot, leave hair everywhere and occasionally arrive with muddy paws after a walk.

For a lot of people, spending thousands on a brand new sofa just does not make sense when they know it is going to be properly lived on.

There is a big difference between a sofa that looks perfect in a showroom and one that has to deal with everyday family life.

If you have dogs, children, grandchildren or simply a busy household, you probably want something comfortable, practical and good value.

You want to be able to sit down and relax without worrying about every little mark.

That is where clearance sofas and one-off pieces can make a lot of sense.

At Alec’s, we have hundreds of sofas in stock, including plenty of individual sofas and suites at prices that mean you do not have to spend a fortune to get something comfortable and good looking.

There is no single perfect sofa for every dog owner, but there are a few things worth thinking about.

Darker colours and patterned fabrics can be more forgiving when it comes to hair and the occasional mark. Leather can be easier to wipe clean, while some fabric sofas can hide wear surprisingly well.

It is also worth thinking about how your dog actually behaves.

If they spend half the day asleep on the sofa, comfort and durability might matter more than having something that looks absolutely pristine.

If they shed a lot, you might prefer something that is easier to vacuum. If muddy paws are a regular problem, something easy to wipe down could save you a lot of hassle.

The good thing about shopping somewhere with a lot of stock is that you can compare different sofas properly.

You can sit on them, feel the material, look at the colour and decide whether it feels right for your home before you buy.

There is no rule saying you need to spend thousands of pounds to get a decent sofa.0000000000000

No stressing when the dog jumps up. No panic over a bit of hair. No treating the living room like a museum.

At Alec’s 3 Piece Suites in Bolton, our warehouse is packed with hundreds of sofas, chairs and suites in different styles, colours and sizes, with stock changing all the time.

And because so much of it is already in stock, same-day delivery is available on many purchases too.

So if you have dogs and you want a sofa that looks good without costing a fortune, come down and have a look around.

Your dog will probably claim it before you do anyway.

We hear this one a lot at Alec’s. “We’ve got dogs, so we don’t want to spend too much on a sofa.” And honestly, we completely get it.
